Theatrical performance dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the song "Silent Night, Wonderful Night" (Austria).

October 5, 2018 in Moscow, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a theatrical performance was held dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the song "Silent Night, Wonderful Night". For a free visit to this unique event, Muscovites and guests of the capital invited the Austrian tourism office on behalf of the Tourism Councils of Salzburg, Tyrol and Upper Austria. Representatives of the Austrian diplomatic mission in Russia, including the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria in Moscow, Dr. Johannes Aigner, are also invited to participate.
The performance began with the performance of the Brass orchestra of the Tyrolean burgomasters in the open. Despite the cool weather, viewers listened with delight to such incendiary melodies, dressed by Austrian musicians in traditional Tyrolean costumes. Founded by Dr. Karl Mark in 1995, the brass band of the Tyrolean burgomasters of the county has more than 70 musicians -: mayors, vice-mayors, community administration representatives, municipal employees and other public figures.
Theatrical performance with the participation of actor Mikhail Umants and musicians from Salzburg and Tyrol in the temple itself, filled with enthusiastic audiences. This song was first performed 200 years ago by the priest Josef Mauhr and teacher Franz Xavier Gruber, who cleaned it, in the church of St. Nicholas in Oberndorf near Salzburg. From the pen of Joseph Mohr came a poem, which, at his request, Franz Xavier Gruber shifted to the music. Since then, this wonderful Christmas song has begun its journey in Europe and around the world. Nowadays, this song is performed in more than 300 languages and dialects around the world.
Such a soulful rendition of singer Christiane Schober from the Salzburg region with accompaniment on guitar, cymbals and wooden xylophone made it possible to feel all the magic of the most famous Christmas song, Silent Night, Wonderful Night, which began its triumphal march around the world exactly 200 years ago.
As noted by the Director of the Austrian Tourism Office, Gerald Boehm, noted that “This song was a kind of promotion of Austria as a tourist destination, a song that creates a special warm atmosphere, a song of peace, peace that people now need. It unites people regardless of their origin, age or religion, and brings us closer to the time when it was written. ”
